I support adult individuals struggling with life transitions, identity, depression, anxiety, trauma and relationships. As a holistic counselor and expressive arts therapist, my work with clients takes the whole person, mind, body and spirit into consideration. In addition to traditional counseling & psychotherapy methods, I offer creative arts processes, spiritual/energy therapies and mindfulness practices to support you on your journey of healing, personal growth and transformation.
I integrate an intersectional approach into my work with clients. Recognizing that personal well being is not solely an individual issue, but is also shaped by the combined effects of our various identities (like race, gender, class, sexuality, ability) and how these interact with systems of power, privilege, and oppression.
I feel strongly that deep healing happens within a supportive community and while I see great value in individual therapeutic work, I will also encourage clients to identify and engage with people they love, trust, and respect rather than focus on personal growth and healing in isolation.
Therapy with me is a collaboration and I believe everyone has their own wisdom. I’m not here to judge or tell you what to do, I am here to help you access that inner knowing and find your own solutions. My approach to therapy is humorous, down to earth, direct and compassionate. I hold a safe non-judgmental space in which you can go deep into self exploration, emerging from the process with a stronger sense of self and well-being.

About Shanel (she/her)
I was educated in spiritual and holistic healing modalities years before I became a clinician and today I have extensive training in both clinical counseling and spiritual/energetic holistic healing practices. In 2008 I graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, concentration Expressive Arts Therapy. Over the years I have worked with adults, groups, children and families from diverse backgrounds and in a variety of mental health settings.
Prior to and during graduate school I worked professionally as a teaching artist, spiritual counselor, Tarot card reader and holistic healer. In addition to training with several spiritual teachers over the years, in 2023 I completed a non-secular Master’s degree in Metaphysical Sciences. The work I do with clients is an eclectic approach to healing that bridges ancient wisdom with modern science.
